Who can stamp my CAD design?
The design lives in CAD. The stamp doesn't care about the file — it certifies the engineering inside it.
A professional engineer licensed in the state where your design will be built. CAD is the medium, not the product: what gets reviewed and stamped is the engineering the files carry — loads, sizing, details, code basis. Send the design package; the PE checks the calculations behind it, calls out corrections in writing, and seals the issued set when the work holds up. If the numbers don't support the design, the stamp doesn't go on.
Your CAD files are drawings — the rules are the same
A generation ago this question arrived about paper blueprints; today it arrives about model files and plotted sheets. Nothing about the medium changes the law of the seal. The engineer who stamps your design must be licensed in the project's jurisdiction and must have reviewed the work thoroughly enough to take responsible charge of it. Whether the set was produced in CAD, BIM or on a drafting board, the review asks the same questions: what carries the load, what the numbers say, whether the details match the calculations, and whether the whole package satisfies the codes the jurisdiction enforces.
What to send with the design
Send the package the way you'd issue it: the drawing set exported from your CAD files, the calculations behind the design, the design criteria (codes, loads, site conditions), and the project location. Native files help when a detail needs interrogating; a clean issued-format set is what gets reviewed and, when approved, sealed. If the calculations don't exist yet, say so at the start — a review can scope the gap, but a reviewer can't certify engineering that isn't there. Complete packages move; partial packages spend their first cycle being assembled, whoever reviews them. The full intake list is on the intake answer page.
The stamp lands on the issued set
One precision worth knowing: the seal is applied to the issued documents — the drawing set of record — not to your working files. Your CAD stays yours; what leaves the desk is the reviewed, corrected and sealed set, with the review documented behind it. Stamp Forge is a brand of Apex Grid Engineering PLLC; reviews run under responsible charge, corrections come back in writing, and the seal follows the review — never the other way around. Send the design. We stamp what stands up.
